Melrose Kitchen (Floor Plan Edit)

The client came to me with contractor plans for a kitchen renovation.

We were aiming to fix 1) an open concept that didn't suit the historic home, 2) the laundry room sitting in the middle of the kitchen work zone, 3) no coat closet near the front entry, 4) poor natural light, 5) an island cooktop not centered on the sink.

To achieve this we restored the dining room corner, relocated the laundry room, and carved out a coat closet facing the front entry. We replaced the side window with an expanded rear window facing the backyard, which brought in better light and freed the island up for prep only.
